Buddies Bet Tracker ("the app," "we," "us") is a scorekeeping app for golf betting games, published by Lightt Media. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the control you have over it. We keep it short because we collect little.
What we collect
- Your phone number — our primary sign-in method: we text you a one-time code to sign in, the same way most apps use a password. Available for U.S. (+1) mobile numbers at this time. Your carrier's standard message and data rates may apply to the SMS code.
- Your email address — an alternate sign-in method if you'd rather not use your phone: we send a one-time code by email instead. If you opt in, we may also email you about the app.
- Your name — shown on scorecards and your group's leaderboard.
- Your self-reported handicap — optional; used to apply strokes in games that support handicaps.
- Payment app usernames — optional Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal handles you add so friends can pay you. We store the username only; we never see or touch a payment.
- Your avatar — an emoji you pick or a photo you upload.
- Gameplay data — the rounds you play, hole scores, and the resulting tallies of who is up or down within your groups.
- Purchase history — if you subscribe to Buddies Pro, our payment processor (RevenueCat, on top of Apple's App Store) records that a purchase happened and its status, so we can unlock the subscription on your account. We never see your card details — Apple handles the transaction.
- Crash and performance data — if the app crashes or errors, basic diagnostic info (device model, OS version, app version) is sent to our crash-reporting tool, Sentry, so we can fix bugs. This is not linked to your name, email, or account.
- Push notification device token — if you allow notifications, your device registers a token with Apple's push service so we can alert you about things like a press during a round, a round finishing and needing to be settled, a group invite, or a season leaderboard change. This token identifies your device for delivery only — it's meaningless to anyone without access to our systems, and we never use it for anything beyond sending these in-app notifications. You can deny or revoke notification permission at any time in iOS Settings; the app works fully without it.
What we do not collect
- We do not process, hold, or move money ourselves. All settlements between players happen outside the app; subscription payments are handled entirely by Apple.
- Inviting a friend by text (to join a group) uses your device's own contact picker and Messages app directly — that contact's number never reaches our servers. This is separate from the phone number you use to sign in yourself.
- We do not track your location.
- We do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
How your data is used
Your information is used solely to run the app: to sign you in, to show your name and avatar to the other members of groups you join, to score your rounds, and to keep your group's season leaderboard. Gameplay and profile data are visible to the other members of your groups — that is the point of a shared scorekeeper.
Where it's stored
Data is stored securely with our backend provider, Supabase, which hosts our database and handles authentication. Access is restricted by security rules so that, for example, only a round's designated scorekeeper can enter scores, and you can only see data for groups you belong to.
We don't sell your data
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except the infrastructure providers required to run the app: Supabase (database, authentication, and photo storage), Resend (delivering your login code emails), Twilio (delivering your login code text messages, if you sign in by phone), Expo (delivering push notifications to your device via Apple's push service), RevenueCat (managing subscription status on top of Apple's App Store), and Sentry (crash reporting, with no name/email attached).
Deleting your account and data
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account inside the app. This erases your personal data — name, phone, handicap, avatar, and payment usernames — and permanently disables your login. To keep your friends' past rounds intact, your historical participation is anonymized (shown as "Deleted Player") rather than removed. Don't have the app anymore? Visit Delete Your Account for a manual option.
Children
The app is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If we update this policy, we'll revise the date above. Material changes will be noted in the app or by email.
