How to Play Vegas in Golf
Partner scores combine into a two-digit number — low score always goes first.
What is Vegas?
Vegas pairs everyone into two teams of two. On every hole, each team's pair of scores combines into a two-digit number — the lower score is the tens digit, the higher score is the ones digit. A 4 and a 6 becomes "46," not "64."
Lowest combined number wins the hole. Buddies always puts the low score first with no "flip" for a blown-up score — a simpler, well-defined version of a rule that varies a lot by course and group.
How scoring works
- Two teams of two.
- Combine each team's scores into a two-digit number, low digit first.
- Lowest combined number wins the hole.
- The point difference times the stakes is owed by the losing team, split evenly across the 4 losing-to-winning player pairs.
Scoring example
One hole, $1 a point. Team A cards a 4 and a 6; Team B cards two 5s.

46 beats 55 — Team A wins the hole by 9 points. At $1 a point, Team B owes Team A $9 total for the hole, split evenly across the four losing-to-winning pairs ($2.25 each).
