How to Play Sixes in Golf
Rotating 2v2 partners — a new teammate every six holes.
What is Sixes?
Sixes needs exactly four players. Your tee order sets three fixed partnerships, one per six-hole segment, so everyone partners with everyone else exactly once over the round: positions 1&2 vs. 3&4 on holes 1–6, 1&3 vs. 2&4 on holes 7–12, and 1&4 vs. 2&3 on holes 13–18.
Each hole in a segment is a point for whichever team's best ball is lower; a tied best ball pushes the hole. Whichever team wins more holes in the six wins the segment.
How scoring works
- Exactly 4 players, partnerships set by tee order.
- Three 6-hole segments — a new partner each time.
- Best ball wins the hole; a tied best ball pushes.
- Win a segment and each loser pays each winner the stakes amount — a flat bet per segment.
Scoring example
Holes 1–6, $5 a segment. Alex & Beth vs. Casey & Deion.

Alex & Beth win the segment. At $5 a segment, Casey and Deion each owe Alex and Beth $5 — $20 total changes hands, flat for winning the segment, not scaled by how many of the 6 holes they won it by.
