How to Play Nine Point in Golf
Three players, 9 points on the line every hole — lowest score takes the most.
What is Nine Point?
Nine Point is built for a threesome. Every hole, 9 points get split 5/3/1 by finishing order — lowest score gets 5, middle gets 3, worst gets 1.
Tie for a rank and you split the points for the slots you're tied across, evenly. Two players tied for the low score split the 5-and-3 slots (8 points) as 4 each; all three tied splits the full 9 as 3 each.
How scoring works
- Exactly 3 players.
- 9 points split 5/3/1 by score, lowest to highest.
- Tied ranks split the pooled points for the slots they share, evenly.
- Each point of difference between two players is worth the stakes, settled pairwise and netted across the round.
Scoring example
One hole, $1 a point. Alex and Beth both card a 4; Casey cards a 5.

Alex and Beth tied for 1st and 2nd, so they split the pooled 5+3=8 points evenly — 4 each. Casey takes the last-place 1. Alex and Beth are even with each other (no money moves between them); Casey owes Alex $3 and owes Beth $3 — the 3-point gap on each side, at $1 a point.
